Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) The University of Washington has analyzed TCO within the University at between $2000 and $3500 per device per year. They also quote Fortune and The Economist magazines estimates of $4000 to $10000 per device per year. A University of Oregon article reports; "A recent survey of 400 school officials suggests that the total cost of ownership for a building with 75 computers was more than $2,200 per machine (Consortium for School Networking 1999)."
